Route d'arlon: background story

 

route d'arlon - stretching from luxembourg-city to steinfort, crossing strassen, bertrange, mamer, capellen. the part between the capital and mamer is certainly the most controversary architectural roadside in the country. ugly, "verschass", etc. i won't argue over that!

 

with my photography project "route d'arlon" i wanted to make the viewer discover interesting, if not beautiful, parts of this super busy urban artery.

i spent a couple of weeks, day and night, walking up and down Arlon road, and discovered spots which looked as intriguing and photogenic as it gets. a couple of those places don't exist anymore, since the road is an ever changing worksite with old buildings disappearing and new constructions emerging alongside of luxembourg's least inviting street.
